Gallery from Lake Eyre 2009 Flood - April 2009

We took off from William Creek mid morning on April 2 with Andrew and John from Desert Discovery. We were doing an aerial view for the 2009 camel treks after the big rains and floods in northern Queensland. The rain started in January 2009 and finally arrived down the Warburton River in April at Lake Eyre.

Gallery from Lake Frome dry salt lakes

Late afternoon I took off from Maree in late August 2009 heading for Broken Hill. Flew from the north to the south over Lake Frome and caught the suns rays setting over the saltpans and clipping the tops of the surrounding sand dunes. The colors and swirls of the dry salt were captivating.

Riverlands NW Victoria

South of Mildura in the Victoria North Western Riverlands district I was flying to South Australia.

Gallery from Warburton River - Inlet to Lake Eyre

Diamantina River at Birdsville diverts into tributaries. One of the tributaries is the Warburton River that eventually flows into Lake Eyre. Most of the photographs were taken over Kalamurina Station north of Lake Eyre

Gallery from the Simpson Desert - West of Birdsville Queensland

We took from Birdsville and headed west at sun rise to investigate the camel treks for the coming season. It was a magic experience. The flying conditions were superb. When the sun rose it hit the tops of the sand dunes highlighting the brilliant red of the desert.

Gallery from Coppers Creek - South of Windorah

Flying from Tamworth to Davernport Downs Cattle station on the Diamantina River. Taken south of Windourah on the Cooper Creek. mid to late afternoon. This is the southern reaches of the Queensland channel country. The rivers had been flowing after the northern Australian rains from the Gulf region.

Gallery from the Hay Plains - Riverina New South Wales

The series of dry seasons has taken its toll on the Hay Plains. Mid afternoon the sun eliminated the area with pink reflection of the clay pans and highlighted by the Lignum depressions.

Gallery from Central Australia

On route from Birdsville to Alice Springs After heavy rain the colors were rich and abundant with flora and fauna.

Gallery from Southern River Series

In April 2009 flying from Tibooburra to Hay over the Lachlan River in central New South Wales North of Hay. It was evident that drought in the Hay district showed the clay pans in contrast to the low lying wetlands off the river channel.
