David Taylor was born in Narrandera in southern New South Wales Australia in 1948. His family moved from South Australia to the Riverina in 1912 and established the famous Pooginook Merino stud 75 km north of Jerilderie. The Taylor family has always had an intricate understand and appreciation of the land and climatic conditions. This understanding came from years of drought flood and fire and working with the good and bad that nature provided. David and his forefathers accepted and respected natures ways and ability to always have the last say.
Since 1992 David and his wife Gillian managed Pooginook based on Holistic management. A planned grazing process where environmental, financial and social aspects were considered in all decision making. This framework formalized their understand of the power of nature to heal and achieved some wonderful environmental outcomes in that time. The family sold Pooginook in 2007 and David has pursued his interest in land management on their property Bibbaringa east of Albury , a consulting business and photography.
David has taken his passion and understanding of land management into the skies and photographs what he sees as important changes.
He views our major river systems, dried and filling inland lakes, grazing and track patterns in the landscape, mountain ranges and water holes. All part of natures design and natures patterns.
